Emergency Child Care
The BGCN is excited to offer Emergency Child Care! Emergency Child Care is for essential workers as defined by the Government of Ontario and funded through the Niagara Region.

Children are required to bring:
- Their own electronic device (Chromebook/tablet etc.) as well as applicable charging cords and headphones.
- Remote learning schedule (up to date and emailed/conveyed to program staff).
- Log in and passwords for electronic device, and online learning class
- Any additional school resources (required by school teacher – ex. worksheet sheets, writing devices).
- Nut-free bagged lunch with at least 4 snacks
- Labeled reusable water bottle
We appreciate you taking the time to review the Parent Handbook including the updated COVID-19 and pandemic policies and the Emergency Child Care Addendum. Policies and procedures have been put in place to ensure the safety of our staff and participants.
All persons (participants, parent/guardians, staff, essential visitors/service providers) entering the program, will be screened and signed in by the designated screener in accordance with established criteria. Individuals may complete a self-screen daily prior to arrival utilizing the link provided in accordance with COVID-19 School Screening protocols COVID-19 school screening (ontario.ca) Participants must not attend the program if they are sick, even if symptoms resemble a mild cold. If a participant, parent/guardian and/or staff does not pass the screening guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Health entry will be denied.
The symptoms outlined in section 6.4 of our Parent Handbook are associated with COVID-19 and when present, should be taken seriously. If present, a phone call will be made to the participant’s parent/guardian to ensure immediate pick-up.
At this time our hours of care are 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Any participants picked up after this time will incur late fees. This fee will apply even if you do call to inform us that you’re running late; though the courtesy would be appreciated.
