Parents spend quality time with their child while having fun learning and socializing with others. Through structured in-water interaction between parent and child, our Parent & Toddler program stresses the importance of play in developing water-positive attitudes and skills. We provide "Water Smart" tips on keeping children safe in any aquatic setting. (30 minute lesson)
The preschool program gives children a head start on learning to swim. Preschool levels develop an appreciation and healthy respect for the water before these kids get in too deep. In five preschool levels we work to ensure 3 to 5 year old children become comfortable in the water and have fun acquiring and developing a foundation of water skills. We incorporate Water Smart education in each level. (30 minute lesson)
Our swimmer program makes sure children learn how to swim before they get in too deep. Swimmer progressions accommodate 5-12 years old children and youth including absolute beginners as well as swimmers who want to build on the basics. We stress lots of in-water practice to develop solid swimming strokes and skills. We incorporate Water Smart education in all levels. (45 minute lesson)
The Lifesaving Society's 3-level Canadian Swim Patrol program provides enriched training for those who want to develop swim strokes and skills while having fun in the challenging world of lifesaving. Swim Patrol develops swimming strength and efficiency with emphasis on Water Smart behaviour. Skill drills enhance capability in the water, good physical conditioning and lifesaving judgment. (1 hour lesson)
The aquatic department is pleased to offer private and semi-private swim lessons. These lessons are recommended for all swimmers ages 3+ who are looking for individual attention.
Want to have a great time? Do you like swimming and want to better your skills? Join our swim team! Participants will learn drills for front crawl, back crawl and breaststroke, as well as attempt the butterfly stroke. In an exciting atmosphere, teamwork is developed through relay races and cheering on team-mates. Sprints, endurance swim and IM swims will also be practiced. The participants will set goals each session. Participants must have completed Swimmer 3 or be approved by one of the coaches.
Participants may pay dailiy or purchase a pass. Enjoy a relaxing swim or work on strokes during this adult only pool time. (1 hour swim)
This class offers a gentle range of motion exercises. Work at your own pace and ability. The water will help strenthen muscles and increase flexibility. Gentle walking patterns will help with balance and stability. A great way to meet new people! (1 hour class)
An intense water workout! This class will allow you to push and pull your body to your limits, build your muscles and increase your cardio endurance. (1 hour class)
It's never too late to learn. Adult lessons are geared towards what your personal goals are. Want to learn to put your face in the water comfortably or swim 100 meters without stopping? Our instructors can help you. (30 minute lessons)
Come take advantage of our indoor heated pool. Members swim free of charge! Not a member? You and your family are still welcome to participate in family swim at a cost of $3 each or $5.50 for a family (up to 4 people).
Bronze Star is the pre-bronze medallion training standard and excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion. Participants develop problem solving and decision making skills as individuals and in partners. Participants will learn CPR and develop Water Smart, confidence and the lifesaving skills needed to be a lifeguard.
Bronze Medallion is the next step in becoming a certified lifeguard. The course includes First Aid skills, water rescue situations and swim endurance activities. The Emergency First Aid with CPR-B component enhances the knowledge of first aid situations and treatments. Candidates must have successfully completed Bronze Star or be 13 years of age by the exam date. 100% attendance is mandatory.
Bronze Cross is advanced Lifesaving Society course designed to prepare candidates to be lifesavers. Completion of this course prepares candidates to take the National Lifeguard Course. Candidates must have completed Bronze Medallion and Emergency or Standard First Aid.
At the completion of this 40 hours course the successful candidate will be certified as a National Lifeguard and will be able to guard at any pool setting. Take-home assignments and a written and practical exam will also be required. Candidates must be 16 years of age (by exam date) and have a current Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid certificate. 100% attendance is required.
The NLS course must be re-certified every two years from the last certification date. Please register early as classes fill up quickly! Bring your NLS certification card to the class. This re-exam involves life guarding skills, first aid and rescue situations.
This 40 hour course is the last step in becoming a certified Lifesaving instructor. At the completion of this course, candidates will be able to teach the the Lifesaving Learn to Swim program as well as the Bronze cluster awards. Candidates must be 16 years of age by the last day of the course and have a current Bronze Cross or NLS Award. 100% attendance is mandatory.
This course provides a certification in First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. The 16 hour course outlines how to deal with wounds, poisoning, head injuries, bone and joint injuries, heart attacks and strokes. Candidates will also learn 2-man CPR for infants, children and adults. This course is designed for professional rescuers, health care workers and lifeguards.
This course will review CPR as well as severe injuries including: bleeding, broken bones, joints, head and neck injuries etc. Please review the manual before attending. Re-certification is required ever 2 years.
